Pohutukawa Girls

I love my job, creating something personal for a  wee ones nursery.  But I have to admit to enjoying the making of these Christmas Decorations as my greatest delight.  I have never had so many emails asking me to relist one of my creations as the  Pohutukawa  Russian Dolls.  Each has their very own expression...
Enjoy

Little Big Market Day

Setting up
Yay I am so pleased I decided to take part in the fabulous Little Big Markets in Mt Maunganui this weekend.  Seeing it was the first time I had no idea what to expect and was a little nervous, but it was so much fun I soon forgot the nerves.  It was great to meet the fellow stall holders and best of all to get lovely feedback on what I do from all the wonderful people who visited my wee stall.  Thank you.

Complete and on their way!

Georgia, Ella and Olivia will be receiving their new Owl Families shortly.  I was really pleased with how Georgias 5 Owls turned out.  I had to use an extra strong dowel so they could all fit snugly.

Off to sew some more goodies xx

Update

I am so busy with Owls yet again, four family's on on the go at the moment and one with a family of 5!!  This has been a bit of a logistical nightmare trying to hang, but the result looks to be good.  I have been so very busy with customised orders and with making some wee extras for my stall at the 'Little Big Markets' but loving making alot of new creations.

I received Ruby's name banner today. Love it!! So beautifully made. I can't wait to purchase more of your felt creations. Thank you!!  Amanda24
How great is it to get to get positive feedback?   It makes what I do so worthwhile, to know that my creations are appreciated.  I remind myself of this when I am sewing late into the night when I think about returning to full time work.... never did I receive quite the same recognition in my past life at the 'bank'

Love to all

Lion Lion Lion

My wee girl Maise has just learnt the word 'lion' along with the sound 'Grrrrr' so it was lovely to make these five wee guys for a lovely return customer from Australia.  I so enjoyed making these wee party favours and I wish the little boy in question a very happy birthday,

This is a sneak peak at some of the goodies I have been making for my up and coming market here in Tauranga... this is a clippy holder in the theme of my rainbow cottages.... I hope you like.

On its way!

Chloe will have a new addition to her room... should be arriving on Australian shores shortly.

Have a great day!

Confession!

Up until last weekend any machine sewing I needed doing, taking up jeans, curtains etc... I would take to my mum, stand back and watch her perform what I considered a miracle.  The only experience Id ever had was on Mums sewing machine which is as old as I am (and that's pretty old!!).   Any attempt made on this evil orange monster resulted in broken needles, bunched up thread, loud strange noises.  Even one of the family's favorite story's is how I got its needle through my finger (yes right through) when I was only small.

So yes my confession is I could not sew on a sewing machine, hand stitching has been my bag.... up until last weekend that is, when I purchased a brand spanking new sewing machine for my birthday (I always give the best presents).  It is quite beautiful... well compared to the evil orange monster and my goodness what a pleasure to sew with.  I can now fulfil that goal of making some clothes for Maisie, join the readymade curtains down the middle so there are only 2 not 4 on the lounge room ranch sliders and make a doll!!

So today I took the whole day off (hand-sewing) to sew a doll.  Using the machines booklet, a few tutorials on different stitches and a fair bit of unpicking I am starting to learn and this is the result!

What do you think?

Ria

P.S.  All Maisie-Moo Felt Creations will continue to be hand stitched... as much as I enjoy the machine, nothing compares to the detail and result of hand stitching on felt.

Maisie-Moo Returns

Hello all, gosh it will have been almost three months since my last blog post.  During this time I completed all my back orders (yay) and have had a wonderful holiday.

Maisie-Moo will be officially back from at the beginning of September.  However I have started taking advance custom orders through my Etsy shop.  If you were wanting to order a MM Creation and it is not listed, please do not hesitate to contact me via Etsy or Facebook and I can arrange.

Thank you all for being so patient and I am looking forward to getting Maisie-Moo up and running again for Spring.

Closed up shop...

What a difficult thing to do!  Today I had to 'deactivate' all my listings in my Felt and Etsy shops as I have just too many orders to deal with..... ordinarily this would not be a problem as I would just extend my completion times.  But with our holiday to Scotland and Thailand looming I felt the best thing for my customers and myself was to 'shut up shop' and make sure the orders I have are completed before we go.

Sorry in advance to anyone who was was wanting to order a Maisie-Moo Felt Creation.... I will be up and running in a couple of months and in the mean time hope to list some of my popular creations for instant purchase...time permitting that is.

Thank you all again for your support and I will keep you updated on my status.

So Manic!!

I can't believe it has been a month since my last post!!  This is due to being so crazy busy I have just not had the time to even think.  Not only is Maisie-Moo now running to a 6 week completion for my existing creations, I am having to turn down work for individually made custom creations.. Sorry!  I am getting a new/second hand kitchen fitted (by my lovely Dad) which is so exciting, who knew picking taps, tiles and the all important bench could take so much time.

Here are a couple of pics of today's (and recent) mail... I had a very quick photo session...

All heading off to the USA.

Really pleased with the look of this name banner... makes me want to eat boiled sweets.
Another cheeky monkey for another cheeky monkey!!
New hanger for the Rainbow Elephants... with a music button playing "Twinkle Twinkle".

So enjoyed making these Rainbow Cottages for my girlfriend Jenny who is expecting soon.

 Bums!!

If your creation is not here, please do not worry, I only photograph a few of what I complete.

I hope this reached you happy and well.

Love Ria

Loving being a mum...

It has been a busy couple of weeks, Maisie is becoming more of a delight (if at all possible).. she is starting to say so many words and understands so much more.  She is 16 months now, such a wonderful age!

I have been busy with my creations too and here are some that have been sent out today...  not all are shown as taking photos takes so much precious sewing time.

This was made to match a customers nursery decor, they had dark furniture so I painted my normally whitewashed wood a rich dark brown.

This is heading off to Australia along with a Gertie Giraffe too.
This name banner will be adorning a nursery door in Norfolk..

I so enjoyed making these pink owls and these will be hanging above a soon to born baby in New York.

Hope you all have a lovely Easter break  xxx Ria

This weeks mail..

Just a wee showcase of some of the orders that I have sent off this week.  My 'Owl and wee Critter' Mobile has proved popular and I have made three this week along with the following orders out in the post this week,

xx Ria

What a week!

Well I survived three pin pricked fingers, my parents being away and being run into by a very large truck.  To elaborate... I have some new needles and am still getting used to them, hence the finger injuries.....  I never realised what a help my Mum and Dad were till they decided to take a holiday, all the more appreciated!.  And yesterday, dropping hubby off to work, we were rammed by a very large truck and trailer who 'did not see us'... it left us a little shook up and thankful for full cover insurance.

Quite a few orders made it out though, one to the UK for Daniel, he had a Blinky made for his new bedroom door.  Grace, also in the UK has a an Owl Family to look over her and  Kathryn from Texas will be receiving her Owl and wee critter baby mobile soon too.

First Flight Baby Bird Mobile ....

is flying off to the US tomorrow... I had forgotten how much work goes into this particular mobile so it has take me a few days to complete.  It looks like it will not be slowing down anytime soon either as 4 of my new Owl Mobiles have sold in the last 2 days.  Yay!  I am glad you like the design.
